Position Description:

Flowserve is seeking an Application Engineer for its Houston, Texas Commercial Operations team. The Applications Engineer will have the opportunity to increase business by preparing proposals for valve & automation products in response to requests for quotation (RFQ’s). The Application Engineer’s proposals will be focused on trunnion mounted ball valves, trunnion mounted control ball valves, and automation systems with the possibility of other products. Additional responsibilities include general problem solving and hosting visitors by giving informative facility tours and appropriate entertainment. Limited travel required to develop business by making presentations and training.

Prepare professional and persuasive quotations to win orders.

Technical knowledge of fluids, corrosion, erosion, materials, valve specifications & engineering drawings, along with working knowledge of ASME, API & other international standards.

Work closely with the engineering department when necessary to properly define and communicate a product offering including details such as performance criteria and customer specifications.

Must have basic knowledge of the manufacturing process from order entry to shipment.

Correctly identify and apply quality procedures that meet customer requirements.

Review all valve orders for completeness and correctness. Must resolve all issues before passing order to the Order Management Group for entry.

Ability to work effectively with difficult and challenging situations.

Time management and organization skills are essential to meeting customers’ expectations.

Knowledge of commercial issues including payment terms, shipping terms, and contract review.

Ability to train distributors/representatives to better understand our product, update of services, policies, to help them be more self-sufficient, competent, and profitable as needed.

Lead continuous improvement projects within Commercial Operations.

This position reports directly to the Commercial Operations Manager and will influence both sales and operations.

Maintain CRM database regarding quotation activity, cost, price and quoted lead time for each opportunity.

Position Requirements:

BS Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical Engineering or related technical degree.

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a technical capacity.

Preferences:

Minimum 5 years’ experience in application engineering or related discipline.

Minimum 3 years’ experience with valves and/or piping systems.

Knowledge of API and ASME codes.

Lean Six Sigma experience

ORACLE or SAP experience
