Responsible for 3D scanning, 3D measurement and data processing for inspection and reverse engineering projects performed at suppliers, warehouses or at Flowserve site locations using Rommer & Faro Arm as well Creaform Handyscann
Be accountable for delivering quality project results along with Category Manager by executing assignments per predetermined scopes of work.
Efficiently report relevant project information, analysis of pattern condition, project milestones, and status updates.
Acquire geometry of product or objects for Reverse Engineering or Inspection as requested
Perform dimensional high definition 3D laser scanning surveys for the documentation of FLS patterns, castings, re-engineering projects, QA dimensional reports etc.
Ensure consistency in the storage, maintenance and distribution of 3D pointcloud/CAD information in Windchill for use across the business units.
Working with Engineering to clean the raw scan data to ensure accurate production of 2D CAD drawings and 3D Models from the 3D laser scanning surveys.
Balance periods of survey time on site with office based time processing, quality checking and distributing the registered data
Work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment and be able to elicit co-worker and inter-department cooperation.
Adhere to local HS&E, Quality operating procedures when off-site
Undertake training and self-learning to enhance own prospects.
Provide good stewardship of company assets and resources.
Acquire geometry of tooling into an acceptable. stl file
Maintain equipment in excellent condition recording adjustments, repairs
Assure equipment is calibrated and verified before use
Plan and schedule daily, weekly and monthly work and travel
Report geometry acquired and schedule daily (Production Report)
Archive Captured geometry in specified electronic location
Refine .stl when required into clean .stl or .stp/iges/x_t files
Post the scan to acceptable condition
Overlay object scans for dimensional Inspection
Position will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
Minimum requirements include an A.S.in Manufacturing Technology, Mechanical Engineer Technician or Equivalent
2+ years previous technical experience operating portable arm scanners, laser trackers, or other types of 3D scanning systems is highly desired.
Direct experience working with Laser Scanners and associated software.
Utilize basic hand measuring instruments (caliper, micrometer, scale)
3D Modeling Software Qualification- Soldiworks, Inventor or equivalent required
Perform geometry acquisition in adverse environments (limited heating and A/C)
Basic Software-Word, Excel, Powerpoint Experience in 2D & 3D CAD.
Experience working with 3D point clouds
Proven capability in quickly learning new programs, methods, and equipment as well as very strong general computer hardware and software skills
Understanding of Foundry pattern design and manufacture a plus
Understanding of Manufacturing Processes
Ability to work effectively and independently with minimal supervision.
Must be able to work in field, supporting high definition laser scanning operations.
Self-motivated, exceptional attention for detail, excellent communication skills.
Proficient in written and verbal English
Must have a valid driver's license and be at least 21 years of age for car rental purposes.
Ability to lift, operate and travel with heavy equipment.
Travel nationally and internationally for extended periods (weeks)
Experience in Vxelement, Geomagic, (not essential training given) is preferred
