Position Description:

This role will be responsible to develop both new and underperforming existing suppliers to drive improvements in supplier quality, lead-times and cost . Identify opportunities for improvements in supplier quality and internal processes that influence overall supplier performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing for timely and effective resolution of supplier related technical issues and challenges. Monitor and manage monthly reporting of Supplier Performance KPIs such as Quality , Supplier cost of poor quality ( SCOPQ) and OTD . Drive with suppliers a continuous improvement culture through structured communication, training on product/process and utilization of quality tools & techniques.


  • Conduct supplier assessments when needed, maintain updated information on approved supplier list. Assess supplier capabilities to meet product, cost, quality, capacity, and delivery of product

  • Apply quality tools and techniques to establish root cause, and drive corrective & preventive actions with suppliers. Analyze supplier quality data and develop value added reports on performance, trends, and improvement opportunities

  • Support Supplier scorecard program, educate suppliers on criteria and scores impact on future business. Ensure that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented by suppliers for improvements

  • Partner with buyers to effectively execute the sample process, for the qualification of new parts and new suppliers, in collaboration with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Quality departments. Lead APQP and PPAP with new and existing suppliers on special projects

  • Support buyers to communicate and resolve with supplier’s non-conformances and implement the necessary corrective actions

  • Work with Engineering on design related concerns or updates driven by supplier feedback. Drive with Engineering and Quality a design for manufacturability culture

  • Coach/teach supplier. Mentor Supply Chain and Quality Assurance Personnel in this process

  • Work to resolve supplier technical issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelors of Science Degree, preferably in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or Quality Engineering

  • 2+ years of experience in supplier quality , having worked with both domestic and international suppliers and quality standards

  • Demonstrated experience in auditing production, safety, environmental, and quality capabilities in accordance with international standards such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

  • Well versed with quality tools and methodologies, such as APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, 5 WHY, Process flow, DOE, GR&R, etc.

  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively with internal stake holder such as Engineering and Quality departments. Also with domestic & international suppliers to drive continuous improvements.

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and standards with the ability to clearly communicate these requirements

  • Ability to interface with the Global Supply Chain organization – Commodity managers, Supplier Development and Quality Managers.

  • 20 % travel including international

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills


  • Experience with an ERP system

  • Oracle experience a plus

  • Engineering degree is preferred
